In 2013, I was involved in a high impact car accident just a few weeks after a hysterectomy. The other car driving approximately 85kms/hr rear ended me while I was idle. The frame of my car was twisted and irrepairable, the spare tire in the back saved me.
I was no longer able to work, had to quit my job, lost the career I've studied and trained for my whole adult life, lost friends, and the outgoing, active version of myself that I knew up until that point. Pain made me cranky, I no longer wanted to be in my body leaving depression soon to follow. This was an extreme contrast to who I was pre-accident.
Eventually I was diagnosed with Chronic pain, fibromyalgia and sent to the Chronic pain clinic. That is where I was introduced to Yoga as therapy. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I learned about pain in my body.
For my own healing journey, physio, chiro, massage, acupuncture, injection therapy, reikki all helped but I had to keep going back. Some, one, or all of these healing modalities might work successfully for other however that was not the case for me. By complimenting my healing journey with Yoga Therapy and Energy Healing I gradually stopped needing chiro, then physio, and lastly massage.
For me, introducing an hour of Yoga as therapy into my life became a daily routine as I was determined to heal. Yes, I still get pain but that is typically when I get away from practices. When I experience pain now, I know what to do about it.
My intention is to share my love and compassion for people, to work with clients in exploring the core of their restrictions and offer Yoga techniques to assist in recovery. Our Yoga tool box is full of options; breath work (pranayama), postures (asana), meditations,..etc, or simply just listening - holding space for you.
